The Isle of Wight’s energy saving charity, The Footprint Trust, is urging people to act now to avoid nasty post Christmas utility bills, that could ruin the new year!

Ray Harrington-Vail said,

“January can be a depressing time, as bills come in and fuel costs rise. Many households are faced with the choice of heating or eating.”

Previous success
Over the last few winters the Footprint Trust have helped some 2,000 people, in reducing their energy bills, saving many households around £200.

Ray Harrington-Vail and Mark Russell, from The Footprint Trust, were appointed Champions by the Big Energy Saving Network earlier on this year. Ray is already recognised as National Heat Hero, due to his pioneering work on the Island.

Making the choice between eating and drinking
Mark Russell said,

“Some 19,000 Islanders will spend this winter making the stark choice between
eating or heating.

“Many people need help as they are spending more than 10% of their income on fuel for their home.”
