Ventnor has walked away with not one, but two accolades in the 2023 South and South East England in Bloom Awards.
Beating off competition from 100s of entries including local authorities, communities, cities, towns and villages from across Kent, East and West Sussex, Surrey, Hampshire, Isle of Wight, East and North Dorset and East Wiltshire, Ventnor Park won Gold, and Ventnor Cascade won Silver Gilt Award.
Team effort
As well as contractors John O’Connor being congratulated for their work, praise should also go to Jackie, Richard and the team at Ventnor Tee in the Park for their efforts in keeping the putting green and cafe looking great.
The awards were presented over the weekend at RHS Wisley by South and South East England in Bloom chairman Peter Holman.
History of Ventnor Park
Ventnor Park, established in the 19th century, spans approximately seven acres. The park is gracefully landscaped across varied elevations, presenting a harmonious blend of mature trees, shrubs, and borders adorned with herbaceous and bedding plants.
A charming bandstand occupies a spot within the park, providing a space for music and public gatherings. Adding to the park’s tranquil atmosphere is a gently flowing stream, accompanied by subtle waterfalls and waterfowl, creating a serene environment for visitors.
As well as the putting green, there is a dedicated area outfitted with exercise equipment for adults, encouraging outdoor physical activity amidst the park’s scenic surroundings.
Visitors to the gardens can appreciate the presence of towering, mature trees, which stand as silent witnesses to the passage of time.
Well done to all involved.
