You have until February to have your say on the transport strategy that will affect the Isle of Wight for the next 27 years. Ed
Isle of Wight Council has launched a 12 week consultation on a draft transport strategy for the Island that covers the next 27 years.
The Island Transport Plan (ITP), which is the council’s third such plan, is made up of two separate parts: An Island-wide strategy covering 2011 – 2038, and an Implementation Plan which runs from 2011 – 2013 pending the start of the highways Private Finance Initiative (PFI).
The PFI was recently given the go ahead by the government following the spending review.
The council has also produced a Habitat Regulation Assessment and Strategic Environmental Assessment to help explain the likely impacts of the plan on nature, the environment and the local community.
Copies of the ITP and the other accompanying reports can be found by logging on to www.iwight.com/transport or it can viewed at County Hall in Newport High Street or at all Isle of Wight libraries.
