Thanks to the Hospice for sharing news of this new charity shop, opening next week on Go Yellow Day. Ed
Children from Shanklin Church of England Primary School and Richard Priest, Councillor for Shanklin South, will be opening a new Earl Mountbatten Hospice shop in Shanklin on Friday 12th July to celebrate Go Yellow Day!
Every year the Hospice organises Go Yellow Day with people and businesses across the Island fundraising and wearing yellow to show their support for the work it does.
Tenth Hospice shop
The new Shanklin shop will be the tenth Hospice shop, including its Donation and Distribution Centre, on the Isle of Wight reflecting the enormous support the Hospice receives from the Island community through goods being donated and bought from its outlets.
Celebrations will start at 10.30am with the official opening, followed by drinks and nibbles for guests and customers.
Kath Bright, Retail Team Leader said:
“Opening a new shop is always exciting for the Hospice but we are only able to do this because we have so much support from Islanders. Over the past year each of our shops across the Isle of Wight has been incredibly successful in helping us raise money, and we hope that by selling locally donated items and recycling where possible we are also giving a little bit back to the Island community.”
Wide range of items for sale
A range of quality donated clothing, bric a brac, soft furnishings and some small items of furniture will be sold from the new shop, all of which are meticulously sorted at the Hospice Distribution and Donation Centre in Newport by an army of hard working and enthusiastic volunteers.
The new shop, at 44 Regent Street, will open from 9.30am – 4.30pm and be managed by Hospice staff and friendly volunteers who generously give their time and valuable experience to help across all areas of the Hospice.
There is car parking available in Regent Street and limited spaces in a car park at the rear of the shop.
