The Isle of Wight town of East Cowes will hit our TV screens on Monday (17th) evening, in the latest episode of ITV’s Keeping Up With The Aristocrats (9pm).
The long-awaited documentary was filmed in part in East Cowes last spring and follows friend of East Cowes, HH Princess Olga Romanoff (pictured centre above), cousin to the Queen.
Love: We had a lot of fun bringing the Romanov Imperial Family visit of 1909 to life
Cllr Karl Love, the Isle of Wight councillor for East Cowes, told News OnTheWight,
“The Princess filmed part of the documentary in our town and it may also feature our townspeople as they prepared for the Royal Visit in 2021.
“We don’t know what the content of the programme will be, but we do know that we had a lot of fun in preparation and bringing to life the story of the Romanov Imperial Family visit of 1909 and other visits which Tsar Nicholas II made as a young man to our town.
“A lot of filming was done with our townspeople in the making of this programme and it gives our town, yet again, a Royal spotlight which is truly deserved.
“Our town has a significant heritage where once an empire was ruled from with Royals, nobles, aristocrats and celebrities visiting from all around the world.”
Royal heritage
Cllr Love went on to add,
“We have a lot to be proud of in our town and I’m looking forward to seeing our townspeople on the TV screen on Monday night.
“However big or small a contribution our town makes to the story of HH Princess Olga, it reminds us all of what a beautiful community and place we live and how important East Cowes is to the life of our Island, its people and Royal Heritage.”
You can hear more about the town over on Cllr Love’s social media page.
