After some fierce competition East Cowes Town Council have now awarded the contract for the rebuild of the skatepark to Betongpark Ltd.
The Town Mayor, Councillor Tracy Reardon, said,
“We are very excited to be able to take this project to the next stage and provide a skatepark that we hope will become a showcase for the Island.
“We are confident we have appointed a great team from Betongpark Ltd, a company who are well respected both nationally and internationally.
“We are looking forward to opening a great new skatepark for everyone in 2025.”
Maclure: Skatepark will be suitable for all ability levels
Stuart Maclure, Development Manager of Betongpark Ltd said,
“Betongpark are excited to be working alongside East Cowes Council and the local community to create a new skatepark in East Cowes where there is a strong skate scene.
“This is our first time working on the Island and we hope it is the start of many projects here.
“We look forward to meeting the local community and getting feedback to help us reach a final design to take to site. The new concrete skatepark, to be built on the existing site will be formed of both street and transition elements and will be suitable for all ability levels.”
Thompson: Betongpark is a great company, with a brilliant track record
Zoe Thompson, Skatepark Project Advisor for the Town Council added,
“With the next steps to getting a new park for East Cowes moving forward, we really appreciate the Town Council’s commitment to making sure this project comes to fruition in 2025. Betongpark is a great company, with a brilliant track record across the UK and Europe.
“This is a skatepark build with a small budget, but we know Betong are committed to creating the very best for the local community.
“We will be planning some more youth activities to run alongside this project and hope to do some fundraising to boost the budget.
“The coming months are going to be really exciting for East Cowes and we’re very much looking forward to being part of it.”
