East Cowes Town Councillor, Cameron Palin, shines as finalist in National Young Councillor Award 2023

East Cowes Town Councillor, Cameron Palin, has been named a Young Councillor of the Year finalist for the National Association of Local Councils’ (NALC) Star council awards 2023. 

Councillor Keith Stevens, NALC chair, commented on the announcement and said,

“Congratulations to the Young Councillor Cameron Palin. Your outstanding achievements have placed you among the best in your field, and this recognition is well-deserved.

“Your hard work, dedication, and talent have shone though and it’s an honour to see you as a finalist for this prestigious award. Best of luck for the awards ceremony, and may your journey continue to be filled with success and inspiration. Your achievements serve and an inspiration to us all!” 

A celebration
The prestigious awards are the only awards in England that recognise the Local (Parish and Town) Council sector.

They celebrate local councils, councillors, young councillors, clerks, and County associations’ positive impact on their communities. 

Reardon: His dedication and passion is truly remarkable
On hearing the news that Councillor Palin has reached the final for the young councillor to the year’s award, Councillor Tracy Reardon, Mayor of East Cowes said, 

“Councillor Palin has been an inspiration in his desire to work hard for his community, at such a young age, it has been a pleasure to work alongside him.

“His dedication and passion to improve the lives of the residents as well as the surrounding environment is truly remarkable.”

Palin: Absolutely honoured and humbled
Councillor Cameron Palin said,

“I feel absolutely honoured and humbled to be one of the five finalists for the Young Councillor of the Year Award!

“All the work I do as a town councillor is because of my love and passion for my town and community. I never expected to have the privilege to be a finalist.”

The winners of the Star Council Awards will be announced during NALC’S highly anticipated Parliamentary reception, which will take place on 29th November 2023 at the House of Lords. This event promises to be a memorable celebration of the outstanding contributions made by these finalists.

Shrink wrapped live crab! What a horrendous prospect. I’m glad its a rather old story.

The torture and death goes on behind closed doors. If people only knew how their crab salad or lobster thermidor was produced, wouldn’t they be horrified? Nowadays, many people don’t know or care how their food is produced. It comes sanitized in frozen packages or ready meals. They just stick it in the oven or the microwave. We gladly eat Fish, Chicken, Meat, with only perhaps a passing thought to the suffering of that animal. Don’t know what we can do to change things; bit like the Political Class

Not all of us, Peter!
Some of us are only too aware of the suffering our fellow animals endure on the way to our plates and so make a conscious decision not to consume their flesh.
