The Environment Agency has updated the flood alert for Eastern Yar and tributaries from Whitwell to Bembridge.
The updated warning reads:
Water levels in the Eastern Yar remain high, following yesterday’s rainfall. Levels at Alverstone are now falling.
Levels at Sandown are still rising, and will continue to rise until this afternoon.
There is likely to be flooding of Golf Links Road and Moreton Common Road.
Ditches around Fort Holiday Park will struggle to drain while river levels are high. Today between 3 to 15mm of rainfall is forecast, tomorrow is forecast to be a dry day.
Flooding will continue to affect low lying land in the coming days.
We are operating Bembridge sluice so that water is able to flow out to sea between high tides. We continue to monitor the forecast.
Avoid walking or driving through flood water.
