Education Reforms: Next Stages

Education Reforms: Next StagesMany people have been asking, now the decision has been made by councillors to go with the revised option, a two tier education system, what is the next stage?

Just this issue was discussed at Cabinet meeting last night.

It was reported that a series of discussion meetings with head teachers, governors, and pre-school leaders were being held during April and May.

It was also pointed out that union reps would be invited to along to the meetings, but purely as observers.

The decision was taken that ….
i. Cabinet identify a chair for the area meetings due to be held in late April/early May

ii. further work be done on the provision of primary schools having regard to the Council decision that primary schools should be established with either one of two forms of entry

iii. further work be done on the secondary school organisation to secure, wherever possible, 11-19 provision.

We’ll endeavour to keep you up to date on all stages of the process over the coming months.
