Eligible Islanders are being urged to get their seasonal flu and Covid-19 vaccinations as St Mary’s Vaccination Centre prepares to open its doors from 1st October 2026.
Who can get vaccinated
St Mary’s Vaccination Centre is offering
- Flu vaccinations to adults over 65 years and their carers or close contacts
- Covid-19 vaccinations to adults over 75 years
- both vaccinations to those aged over 18 years with severe immunosuppression
- separate clinics will be available for babies and children aged 6 months to age 18 with severe immunosuppression
Booking and walk-ins
Many people will receive an invitation to have their vaccination, however, if you are eligible, you do not need to wait to be invited. You can book now through the National Booking Service, by calling 119, or via the NHS App.
St Mary’s Vaccination Centre will also offer a walk-in service, giving eligible people another opportunity to get protected. However, booked appointments will be prioritised, and people are encouraged to book ahead to help keep waiting times to a minimum.
Opening dates and times
The Vaccination Centre will be open from:
- 1st October to 15th October, on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday, 8am to 2pm
- 19th October to 17th December, on Monday and Wednesday, 8am to 2pm
Why seasonal jabs matter
Sue Lightfoot, Hospital Vaccination Centre Clinical Lead, said,
“Flu and Covid-19 can be particularly serious for older people and those living with certain health conditions. Protection from previous vaccinations can also reduce over time, which is why seasonal vaccination is so important.
“Winter can put additional pressure on our health services, and vaccination is one of the best ways eligible people can protect themselves against serious illness from flu and Covid-19.
“We would encourage everyone who is eligible to get their vaccination as soon as they can. There is no need to wait for an invitation – you can book now, or take advantage of our walk-in service.
“By getting vaccinated, you are not only helping to protect yourself, but also helping to protect those around you and reduce pressure on our NHS services over the winter.”
