More great developments at the Ellen Macarthur Trust (EMT).
They’ve just finished two weeks of residential course at Bradwell Outdoors Centre in Essex, where 48 young people, who are in recovery from cancer and leukaemia enjoyed outdoor activities including kite flying and dinghy sailing. It’s the second year that it’s been run.
We’re told that the second week was made possible by the involvement of Rolls-Royce Motor Cars, who have named the EMT as their official charity for 2008.
Those young people who took part, had been sailing previously, so had the chance to test their skills on smaller, more responsive boats.
Ellen managed to fit in a couple of days in to her busy schedule, while 20 more young people were able to attend this year that last, and employee volunteers from Rolls-Royce also joined them.
When you hear from the young people who have taken part, you can easily see not only why Ellen Macarthur is involved, but why sponsors are queuing up to get involved.
“This week has been amazing, I’ve tried so many new things sometimes achieving stuff I never thought I would. Canoeing has got to be a highlight I was scared at first but I have ended up really enjoying myself. Its the end of the week and I don’t want to go home I have had such a good time and met so many fantastic people, its made me feel like a kid again”
