The Cowes Floating Bridge was suspended from service this morning due to a prow failure.
The damage was discovered at 5am this morning (Tuesday). However, engineers started working on the replacement of the prow cable and completed faster than was anticipated.
The replacement work required the use of lifting gear and therefore a full service suspension.
Attention was drawn to the fact that this prow cable is “a constantly moving part, and has simply suffered wear and tear throughout the parts 20 months of operation”.
The floating bridge was back in service by 9.30am.
