Ryde Rowing Club held its Annual Presentation Dinner on Saturday, 23rd November, at Yelf’s Hotel, Ryde where the first meeting of the Club was held in 1877.
Club Captain, Pete Allsopp, welcomed the members and guests and thanked them for attending and for their support of the Club over the last year and extended a special thank-you to the Clubs guests of honour – Paul Hutchings and his wife Julie, of Carisbrooke Shipping, who sponsored the Club Regatta and contributed to the purchase of new equipment – and to Kerry Jackson, formally of Club Sponsors Wightlink and her husband Toby, honoured for their support of the Club over many years.
Following a presentation on the Club’s achievements in 2013 which included South Coast Rowing Championships wins – in the Men’s Coastal Junior Fours – alongside their Hants & Dorset ARA Championship – and a win for the J14 Coxed Quad at the South Coast Championships, Paul Hutchings helped the Club’s Rowing Captain Mick Jenner present the Annual Awards.
The Coxswain’s Cup was awarded to Sam Brading; the First Year Oarswomen Trophy was awarded to Steph Kissick with the First years Oarsman’s Trophy going to Will Ford.
Sophie Brown was awarded the Ladies Trophy with James Cleary receiving the Men’s award.
The Coaches Cup was awarded to Graham Reeve and Steve Draper and the Committee Cup to Justin Corney with the Captain’s Cup awarded to Dave Redstone.
The traditional “First Hants & Dorset ARA win” Club spoons were awarded to Michaela Martin, Gemma Smith, Alicia Stokes, Heidi Kissick, Stephen Johnson, Adam Edwards, Ollie Gove, James Cleary and Sophie Brown.
