Experience Fire and Dust: The Woody Guthrie Story at Newport’s Apollo Theatre

A powerful new song-cycle exploring the life and legacy of folk icon Woody Guthrie is coming to the Apollo Theatre in Newport on Saturday 26th April 2025.

Titled Fire & Dust: The Woody Guthrie Story, the performance has been commissioned by The Who’s Pete Townshend and created by acclaimed singer-songwriter Reg Meuross.

A legacy that still speaks today
The show offers a compelling musical journey into the life of the ‘Dust Bowl’ balladeer and political activist, Woody Guthrie.

With a focus on themes such as racism, bigotry, corruption and inequality, Fire & Dust draws clear and timely connections between Guthrie’s era and the present day.

Reg Meuross at his storytelling best
Each song is crafted and performed by Reg Meuross, whose reputation as a storyteller through music continues to grow.

The performance brings to light key moments from Guthrie’s life while reflecting broader struggles that remain relevant in today’s society.

The event takes place at the Apollo Theatre, Newport on Saturday 26th April 2025.

Doors open at 6.45pm, with the performance starting at 7.30pm.
