Head to Sandown for a bumper day of free family entertainment this Saturday.
The summer holiday fun starts with the Children’s Parade which sets off from the Pier at 11am.
The procession heads along the seafront to Sandham Gardens where there’s music from Soundwaves Entertainment, comedy and magic from Stevo and Kai and an eagerly awaited set by Marnie Marie, the up-and-coming Island singing talent who performed on the Main Stage at last month’s Isle of Wight Festival.
At 7pm, Sandown’s popular Main Carnival hits the High Street and makes its way through the town with marching and samba bands, spectacular floats and all the usual festive razzmatazz.
One of the town’s biggest days of the summer
Sandown Carnival chair, Paul Coueslant, said,
“We can’t wait to welcome everyone to one of the town’s biggest days of the summer, and advise people to arrive early to get a good view of the evening parade.”
How to take part
To take part in Saturday’s parades, Children’s Carnival entrants assemble and register by Sandown Pier from 10.15am.
For the Main Carnival, entrants assemble from 5pm, with walking entries registering on the Esplanade near the Sundial Cafe.
Floats line up along Culver Parade between Fort Street and the Library roundabout.
