The survey has been commissioned by Healthwatch Isle of Wight following feedback from residents who identified the issue of ‘postponement of outpatient appointments’ as one they would like to see reviewed by the local health and social care watchdog.
The survey, which launches today (3 December), will run until 7 January 2015.
What is Healthwatch
Healthwatch Isle of Wight plays a key role in giving a voice to everyone within the Island community on health and social care issues.
The survey aims to establish experiences of current practice, both good and bad and to help make recommendations to health and care providers about improvements that could be made to services.
Healthwatch Manager Joanna Smith said,
“The postponement of outpatient appointments by the NHS has been identified as a current issue for Isle of Wight residents. We would urge anyone accessing outpatient appointments to complete the short survey to allow us to evaluate not only why these postponements take place but also the impact this can have on people.”
Talking to patients
Healthwatch Isle of Wight will administer the survey through its wide network of contacts and groups. Authorised Healthwatch volunteers will also be talking to patients in outpatient waiting areas at St Mary’s hospital about their experiences.
Hard copy surveys will be available from the Citizens Advice Bureau located at the Isle Help Advice Hub in Newport High Street. The survey can also be accessed online by visiting our Website.
