Isle of Wight duo, Fat Earthers, have this week released their latest album.
‘Bored’ is the culmination of two years of lockdowns, regulations and restrictions.
As we’ve come to expect from Luke Curtis and Kyle Abram, the album provides a brilliant observation on life, set to energetic garage punk that will have you jumping up and down, or at the very least frantically tapping your feet.
Nine-track album
The nine-track album features singles we’ve fallen in love with over the last couple of years, such Selfish, Like Like Like, Phony and Social Distancing, but also includes topical social commentary in tracks like the Oil Race and Policeman.
The album ends with Call Me Punk, which did make me think twice about referring to their music as garage punk, but it’s done now.
Support this Isle of Wight band and order your vinyl copy of the album via the band, or by popping into Ventnor Exchange or AAA Records (Newport).
Playing live tonight
Or you could grab your copy tonight (Friday) at the official album launch at Strings Bar and Venue in Newport (next to the bus station).
The album launch event, promoted by Jayden Hitchcock of Ears Peeled, also features Dad Hair, Chicks and The Appalled (stepping in at late notice for Dead Sheeran, who’ll return to the Island later in the year).
Tickets are £8, doors open 7.30pm.
Bored music video
The band have released a music video for the single Bored, directed by Ben Dabell and edited by Ben Dabell and Will Turner.
