A father and son duo are taking their shows to London later this month, as ‘Piano Smashers’ and ‘Just a Few Words’ are performed at The Cockpit Theatre in Marylebone.
StammerMouth and Rob Thompson present an intergenerational team in a double-bill of one-man shows; StammerMouth’s award-winning ‘Just a Few Words’ is reinvigorated, and Rob Thompson’s ‘Piano Smashers’ marks his energising return to theatre after 30 years.
If you’re a Ventnor Fringe Festival-goer you may have already experienced ‘Piano Smashers’, which which has been further developed and also performed at Brighton and The Edinburgh Fringe Festivals.
‘Just a Few Words’
Just a few words to say how you feel. Shouldn’t take long. Except, this is a one-man show with a stammer, and StammerMouth’s speech is lost as a nagging pile of thoughts won’t stop interrupting him… This may take a while.
A darkly comic grapple with the awkward task of expression, inviting you into the mind of a person who stammers.
“A seriously accomplished piece of theatre”

‘Piano Smashers’
Piano Smashers is a play by Rupert Page and Rob Thompson in which a mother bequeaths a precious piano to her children in her will, insisting they keep it.
They do not want it because of what it represents to them, yet they cannot bring themselves to dispose of it.
“Such hidden gems add greatly to the Fringe experience and remind us that among the thousands of shows, there are superb ones which don’t get the audiences they deserve. The Theatrical play Piano Smashers is one such show.”

Nominated for Best Performance at The Actors, Brighton Fringe.
