Wightlink have confirmed a crewman on the St Helen ferry was involved in an incident yesterday that resulted in him being taken to hospital.
Yesterday afternoon an OnTheWight reader got in touch to say,
“We are on the St Helen coming home on a delayed sailing at 3pm.
“Apparently on the way out from Fishbourne whilst loading, a car did not put its handbrake on and rolled into the employee and crushed his ribs against another vehicle.
“He had to wait until the ferry reached Portsmouth where he was taken off.”
Thankfully Wightlink were able to confirm this morning there was no lasting damage. They told OnTheWight,
“A crewman on board a Wightlink car ferry travelling from the Isle of Wight to Portsmouth on Monday 8 September was slightly hurt when a vehicle moved on the 11:30 departure from Fishbourne.
“First aid was administered at the time. He was taken to hospital as a precaution but was not admitted. An investigation is underway into what happened.”
We imagine the crewman may be bruised and feeling a little tender this morning.
