Instructions of how to make a zine

Find your creative voice by making a zine: Be heard. Be Zine

Fancy trying something new? Why not sign up for these free workshops running through the month of June in Sandown.

They are open to all ages from anywhere on the Island and are perfect for those interested in trying something new and learning all about creating and producing a zine.

What’s a zine?
Zines are neat little DIY magazines that are a wonderful mash-up of stories, art, words, and illustrations that give a voice to differing points of view.

Working in groups, you will be guided by graphic designer, Claire Speight, and award-winning poet, Maggie Sawkins, to explore shared themes around Island life.

What to expect
Using techniques including collage, drawing, mark-making and other print techniques, Claire will help you develop your story visually.

The zines will then be distributed throughout the community as well as forming part of a window installation and final exhibition at the Quay Arts Centre in spring 2023.
