StoneCrabs is delighted to hear that our Out On An Island exhibition, An Untold Heritage and film documentary, Our Stories Matter have inspired Breeze Network Isle of Wight to cycle to places associated with LGBTQ+ history on the Island, creating probably one of the first LGBTQ+ Heritage Trails here.
Carstairs and Pollard
The group will cycle to the Isle of Wight Classic Boat Museum in Cowes, where there’s a small exhibition about Joe Carstairs, before heading on to Newtown Town Hall, which was saved by Ferguson’s Gang for the National Trust.
They’ll be finishing the trail at Quay Arts where they will be visiting Out On An Island – The Untold Heritage Exhibition. Book your place.
Paget, Seely, Woolf and Tennyson
A second trail on the same theme, will follow along Tennyson Down to Dimbola Museum and Galleries in Freshwater and then continue onwards to Mottistone Manor.
The exhibition and documentary film will help you discover the personal stories and memories of LGBTQ+ Islanders and fascinating LGBTQ+ people and places, all with an Isle of Wight connection.
