Thanks to Kelly for letting us know about this fantastic fundraiser for the YMCA. Ed
Work colleagues from YMCA Children’s Bereavement Service are urging Islanders to help them raise cash this weekend for their service which supports local young lives.
From tomorrow (Wednesday 26th) the team will be leaving friends and family behind, including a newborn and a newly wed, to embark on the Screwball Rally fundraiser.
The team will be heading to their first campsite stop in Kent and will be joined by over 70 enthusiastic rally teams who are raising funds for numerous charities.
1,800 miles in five days
All teams will be completing the rally in a car worth less then £750 in just five days, covering up to 1,800 miles across England, France, Italy, Eastern Switzerland and Liechtenstein.
With help from the local community, the YMCA team aims to raise a minimum £5,000 for the service which supports children who are bereaved.
“Coming to terms with grief is often an emotional rollercoaster and sometimes the affects of loss can have long lasting impacts on young lives. To help support children through this, the Service offers professional counselling and we provide advice and guidance to child-based professionals” says Kelly Burke, Targeted Services Manager.
During the challenge islanders check YMCA Website for their blogs.
