It was initially thought the chain ferry would be unavailable until Monday 14 April, but it is now hoped it will come back into operation by 5am on Saturday 12 April, or late on Friday evening (11 April).
However, further maintenance will be required that can only be undertaken in a dry dock. This means the chain ferry will be taken out of service on Monday 22 April for approximately one week. Diversions will be in place for motorists, while a passenger launch will again be available.
The council apologises for any disruption caused.
