Island Line Trains has advised passengers that it expects the current service disruption, which has been caused by flooding, to continue throughout the day today (Tuesday 24th December).

There is currently severe flooding in the Ryde area which resulted in a suspension of all services. The flooding on the track has been caused by heavy rainfall overnight which has also affected roads and homes in the south west.

Because of this, the following changes will apply until further notice:

  • A bus replacement service will run today between Ryde Esplanade and Shanklin
  • A taxi replacement service will run between Ryde Esplanade and Ryde Pier

A spokesperson for the Island Line said:

“We apologise to our passengers for the disruption to their services today. We are putting a bus replacement service in place for the rest of the day to make sure people can travel to their destinations in time for Christmas.

“We are providing updates for our passengers through our website as well as our @SW_Trains Twitter feed and our staff are providing information and assisting passengers at our stations.”

The Island Line does not run any services on Christmas and Boxing Day and passengers are advised to check before they travel on 27th December.
