Our thanks to Nicky Parker for sharing the footage and photos. She was nearby for most of night and managed to capture the fire on film whilst it was at its most ferocious.
Just the shell of the derelict building remains now after the fire gutted the roof, internal walls and ceilings.
The photos below were taken at around 1.30am on Sunday 12th October and the video shows the fire at different times during the blaze.
Nicky told OnTheWight,
The fire service finally left the scene on Sunday evening but have returned today to check on the buildings.
“The fire is out but still smouldering and steaming in places.”
Under investigation
An investigation team from Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue will be heading back to the site on Tuesday. It’s thought the cause of the fire will be difficult to determine due to the extent of the damage.
All praise to the fire service for the bravery and hard work shown whilst dealing with this raging fire.
Before and after videos
Beneath the footage of the fire is another video, shot this summer by the Isle of Wight Archive channel of the derelict hotel. It gives you an idea of what the site was like before the fire.
