It’s certainly a day for our views being sought, next turn is the Hampshire Constabulary. Ed
Hampshire Police Authority and Hampshire Constabulary have launched an online survey to find out how the public would like to interact with the force in 2011 and beyond.
Residents from Hampshire and the Isle of Wight are being encouraged to share their views and experiences on a range of issues, including:
- when they last visited a police station in person and for what reason
- the future of police station front offices
- the role of alternative bases for police officers, such as local council offices or shopping centres
- what role technology should play when the public and the force interact.
Deputy Chief Constable Andy Marsh said: “Hampshire Constabulary is currently looking at how we can continue to provide an excellent service to the public of Hampshire and the Isle of Wight in light of the financial challenges that the force is facing.
“As a result, the constabulary is undertaking a number of reviews, bearing in mind our key priorities of protecting our communities, catching criminals and ensuring that we have an active presence in every neighbourhood.
“Changes will need to be made in the way policing is delivered and it is important that the force gains the views and opinions of the public we serve at this time.
“But whatever changes we make, Hampshire Constabulary’s priorities will not change – we will continue to provide an excellent service, reduce crime, respond to emergencies and target those individuals who commit crime and prey on the vulnerable.”
Councillor Jacqui Rayment, chair of Hampshire Police Authority, said: “The results of the survey will be used to help shape the future delivery of frontline policing services for Hampshire and the Isle of Wight. We always welcome your views, and it is particularly important that we know your views during a time of unprecedented economic change.”
