Firefighters battled through the night to bring a “very large derelict building fire” under control.
The Isle of Wight Fire Service were called to reports of the fire at the former Royal Cliff Hotel in Beachfield Road, Sandown at 23.33 on Saturday night.
One water carrier and four tender attended the fire which has gutted the building.
An investigation into the cause of the fire is ongoing.
