The dilapidated former milking parlour

Former milking parlour in West Wight: From dilapidation to luxury holiday accommodation

Last updated:

A former milking parlour at a now-closed dairy farm on the Isle of Wight could become a luxury holiday let.

New owners of Sunningdale Farm, on Cranmore Avenue in the West Wight, Tobias Brackett and Kate Denton, took over the farm in 2019, when it was in a run-down state.

The couple currently keep pigs, sheep and ducks and supply local shops with produce in the area, but are now exploring different farm-based activities to support the venture.

A luxury farm stay self-catering accommodation
Plans submitted to the Isle of Wight council propose turning the former milking parlour into a luxury farm stay self-catering accommodation.

Agent on behalf of the farm owners, Andrew White Planning Consultancy, said the rural nature of the building and proposed high standard of conversion would help it become a sought-after holiday let and provide a valuable contribution to the overall stock of tourism accommodation on the Island.

Suitable for conversion
The agents say the existing buildings are in a dilapidated condition with the milking parlour suitable for conversion.

An agricultural barn on the site — once used as a dog kennel and cattery — could be demolished and be replaced by a more robust building to provide storage for farm equipment and possibly lambs in the future.
