Free summer entertainment at East Cowes Seafront and Appley Ryde once considered too popular for corona virus return to the Island this Summer holiday.
These popular Magic and comedy shows are Free to the general public and sponsored by the Appley Cafe and Shoreside Cafe respectively.
They started in the early 1990s, David got a call from the Council, the Punch and Judy man that they commissioned to perform through the summer left the Island unexpectedly and asked if David could help. In 2001 public protests saved these shows from budgets cuts.
For 20 years the Isle of Wight Steam Railway part sponsored these shows and today they are sponsored by The Shoreside Cafe in East Cowes and the Appley Cafe in Ryde.
David said,
“I am always humbled by the amount of people who come to watch these shows and the warm response that they receive.
“I am very aware of my social responsibility and know that some families find it hard to afford some of the payed events through the summer.
“These shows are Free to the general public thanks to sponsorship from Iso at the Shoreside and Ben and Lana at Appley.
“It’s 25 years since they were saved by the public and hopefully will continue for years to come.”
These shows are Every Monday at the Shoreside and Wednesday at Appley all at 11am. David is having his busiest summer since the pandemic.
He is a special guest performer at the 200th Cowes Week on Tuesday and Thursday and his regular performances at Chale Show, The Garlic Festival, Woolverton, The Isle of Wight Bus Museum and Ventnor Botanic Garden.
David can also be seen at many other events as well as hotels and holidays centres through the summer holidays.
