Freshwater Parish Council is delighted to announce a generous £1,000 donation from Rapanui/Teemill towards the new Freshwater Skatepark and Pump Track project at Stroud Recreation Ground.
The Parish Council would like to extend its sincere thanks to Rapanui/Teemill for their continued support and generosity. Their contribution is another fantastic example of local businesses getting behind a project that will provide lasting benefits for the whole community.
Drainage and landscaping plans submitted
The new skatepark and pump track is now moving ever closer to construction.
The Parish Council has submitted the requirements for all 12 planning conditions, including a comprehensive drainage plan and detailed landscaping proposals, marking another major milestone for the project.
Benefits for neighbours and the wider area
The drainage design is particularly important, not only for the new facility but also for the wider area. The planned drainage improvements will help manage surface water more effectively around the recreation ground and are expected to provide benefits for residents living close to the park by improving drainage and reducing the potential for water-related issues.
The landscaping plans will also ensure that the new facility sits positively within Stroud Recreation Ground, incorporating planting, biodiversity measures and attractive areas around the skatepark and pump track.
Freshwater Parish Council is incredibly excited to be on the verge of seeing this long-awaited project become a reality.
A community-led project
The skatepark and pump track has been a true community project from the very beginning, with residents, local businesses, organisations, skaters, families and supporters all contributing to making the vision possible.
From fundraising events and donations to sponsorship and grants, the project has brought people together behind a shared ambition to create something positive for Freshwater.

Facilities for all ages and abilities
Once completed, the facility will provide opportunities for skateboarders, scooter riders, BMX riders, roller skaters and other wheeled sports, catering for beginners through to more experienced users.
It will be an inclusive, active and welcoming space for children, young people, families and the wider community.
Gibson: About much more than building a skatepark
Freshwater Parish Council Chair Kirsty Gibson said,
“We are extremely grateful to Rapanui/Teemill for their generous £1,000 donation and for supporting our vision for the new skatepark and pump track. Every contribution has helped us get closer to this point, and it is fantastic to see such strong community and local business support for the project.
“We are now incredibly excited to be on the verge of starting the build. There has been so much work behind the scenes to get us here, and submitting the final planning condition requirements, including the drainage and landscaping plans, is another major step forward.
“This project is about much more than building a skatepark. It is about bringing our community together and creating a fantastic facility that can be enjoyed by people of all ages and abilities. The drainage improvements will also bring wider benefits to the surrounding area, making this a project that really does benefit the whole community.”
Rapanui on supporting the project
Tom Marriott Head of Brand at Rapanui said,
“Rapanui is proud to continue our support for the Freshwater Skatepark and Pump Track. As a values-based business built right here in Freshwater, with around 150 jobs across our HQ at Acorn Springworks and our factory in East Cowes, investing in the community we’re part of has always mattered to us as much as the business itself.
“We’ve backed this project since its earliest days, because we believe every young person on the Island deserves a positive, active space to grow their confidence and build friendships. Seeing the project now on the verge of construction is brilliant news, and we’re delighted this donation helps get Freshwater’s kids that bit closer to shredding it.”
Next steps
Freshwater Parish Council would once again like to thank Rapanui/Teemill, and everyone else who has supported the project so far. The finish line is now firmly in sight, and the Parish Council looks forward to sharing further updates as the project moves towards construction.
