Woman Arrested For Growing Cannabis in FreshwaterPolice can confirm a drugs warrant was executed at an address on Newport Road, Freshwater, Isle of Wight at 9am on Sunday, November 21, 2010.

A 48-year-old woman from Freshwater, Isle of Wight was arrested on suspicion of being concerned in the supply of cannabis. She was taken to Newport Police Station for questioning and later bailed until December 17, 2010 pending further enquiries.

The warrant was executed by officers from the island’s Targeted Patrol teams (TPT), Safer Neighbourhoods team (SNT) and Scenes of Crime team.

A number of items were seized from inside the address including plants believed to be cannabis. The exact amount and value has yet to be confirmed due to ongoing analysis and enquiries led by the Isle of Wight Priority Crime Unit (PCU).

Inspector Andy Treagus of the Isle of Wight’s Targeted Patrol teams (TPT) said: “This warrant was part of our ongoing campaign to disrupt and detect supplies of illegal drugs to the island. These operations take place thanks to a combined effort involving the Isle of Wight Community Safety Partnership and the Drug Action Team, which are committed to work that demonstrates drugs will not be tolerated on our island.”
