Tanja Rebel:

Friends of Frank James continue good work at former hospital

This in from Tanja Rebel, in her own words, Ed

A ‘Big Thank You’ to all who came to our former Frank James Hospital Gathering yesterday! The weather was with us and lots of work was done through concerted efforts.

All in all, throughout the day, about twenty came to help clear away bricks and firewood from the site in order to make it more safe and secure until work on the building finally commences.

Tourism appeal not recognised by council
Several of the people who came had never been before and the day had a real international flavour about it as people from the Netherlands, Poland and France decided to join in. They were all shocked to hear that this beautiful building has been allowed to fall into such disrepair.

If the Isle of Wight Council but realised the tourism appeal of this building, much would be won.

Support from Independents
A good sign is that Independent Councillor Vanessa Churchman and aspiring Independent Councillor Luisa Hillard took the effort to come and help, despite all the hard work they are putting in during election times.

Together with local Town Councillor Peter Lloyd, who has been a great support for the cause right through, they show us that there are people who want to bring positive change to this Island.

Let’s hope that the May elections will bring a real difference in our attitude towards our Heritage.
