Whilst we’ll all be snuggling up around the fires this weekend, spare a thought for two members of UKSA who’ll be doing anything but. Ed
Did you find it hard to leave your warm house this morning? Have to de-ice the car? Wondered if you had put enough layers on for the walk or cycle to work?
If you’ve thought yes to any of these, then spare a thought for UKSA staff members Morgan and Maddie.
This Sunday they will be running the Puma Hellrunner in order to raise money for disadvantaged children to take part in our H2O clubs.
For young Islanders aged 8 – 16, our H2O clubs run throughout the year at UKSA and are a great way to keep fit through watersports, make friends and work towards RYA/BCU qualifications in a fun and safe environment.
The Hellrunner gets it’s aptly deserved name as the guys will be running over multi-terrain course with varying underfoot conditions. There will be everything from running tracks and trails to water-filled areas and plenty of steep hills.
In a psychological twist, the course will not be marked with mile or kilometre markers, Hellrunner organisers claim that is for those softy road running types. All Morgan and Maddie know is that the course will be probably more than 10 and less than 12 miles in length!
So with temperatures of -3C and snow expected, this is not for the faint hearted at the best of times!
With pay day now here for many of us, why not support a good cause by visiting our website to make a donation or drop into UKSA on Arctic Road, Cowes and pop some money into the collection box at Reception?
