Future Lifeguards in training: Ryde’s Beach Safety volunteer programme goes full swing

Ryde Beach Lifeguards welcomes more Beach Safety volunteers to assist their Beach Lifeguards in Ryde and Sandown during the summer holidays.

The Beach Safety volunteers are from RBLG’s rookie lifeguard programme, which runs in the summer months. This means they have completed various awards from the Royal Life Saving Society in areas such as lifesaving, first aid, and rescue board skills.

They are all receiving additional training, to bring their skills and knowledge up to standard before the summer.

Beach Manager, Todd Miller, says,

“We are really excited to welcome more Beach Safety volunteers to the team this year.

“It really benefits our team, and means that when they turn 16 and complete their National Vocational Beach Lifeguard course, they will attain a high standard as Beach Lifeguards with all their previous knowledge and experience from Rookies and Beach Safety.”
