Gareth Icke fans will know that the Island hunk is currently on tour around the UK. Gareth has very kindly agreed to share his tour diary with VentnorBlog readers, so if you’re interested to hear what sort of reception he’s been getting off the Wight, read on. Ed
Day Three (Tuesday)
It’s day three of the liberty tour and I’m already feeling the results of beer, sleep deprivation and greasy food. I think I may well be bringing back a slightly bigger version of myself to my Island.
The shows so far have been greatly received.
Last night we were at The Fly in London and the audience was incredible.
It’s pretty tough to stand up with just a guitar and your deepest thoughts and emotions. Damn, I sound like a hippy! But they were great and Jono, Jess Morgan and myself definitely fed off their enthusiasm and whoop wooing.
On Sunday night we were on the Isle of Wight.
A totally different atmosphere to the city. But I felt it went well, and was a great opportunity to warm up for London and it’s industry filled crowd.
I hadn’t played for a while due to my constant writing, so I needed it!
I’m currently sat in my manager’s house in Bromley. Jono is in the centre of town and Jess is in Stratford. Needs must when it comes to finding beds.
I dreamt that all my hair fell out last night. Scary I can tell you!
The chemicals certainly play havoc with your head. Either that or I’m just slightly weird anyway and being on the road has amplified it.
Tonight is Norwich.
A place I’ve been once to watch my beloved Derby County. I don’t know what to expect. Alan Partridge? I hope so.
We’re playing a place called ‘The Birdcage’ so I guess I’ll just wing it. You like that? I’ll be here all week.
Thanks so much for everyone’s support so far. Hopefully it will become a regular fixture on the UK’s musical circuit.
Peace and love. Gareth. x
