GCSE success for Priory School pupils

Many thanks to Priory School Principal, Edmund Matyjaszek, for this update on GCSE Level results for his pupils. Ed

  • Overall pass rate 99.5%
  • Year 11 pupils with 5+ GCSEs A*-C 93%
  • These same pupils, starting GCSEs in Year 9, average 11 GCSEs per pupil.

Priory pupils are able to achieve this astonishing average because they take GCSEs over three years from Year 9 to Year 11, and so accumulate the total.

Three pupils left with 13 GCSEs each, and one with 14 GCSEs (details below). But the statistic we are most proud of is that every pupil left with eight or more GCSEs, thus equipping not only the high-fliers but ALL our pupils with qualifications for their future.

Subject pass rates A*-C (Year 11)
English Language 93%
English Literature 100%
Science incl Biology/Chemistry/Physics 85%
History/Religious Studies 86%
Art/Photography/ICT 100%

This consistency of teaching quality across the range of subjects echoes the same teaching standards at A Levels.

Other year groups
Pupils in Years 10 and 9 took 39 GCSEs across six subjects with 100% pass rate.

Abigail Plant at age 15 passed three GCSEs all at A*

Javier and Paula Garcia from Spain, also 15 years old, studied at Priory for two years and achieved seven GCSEs all at A*-C – an astonishing achievement in what is their second language.
