Generous Donation No Mystery For Barely Born Appeal

A Portsmouth-based company whose fund raising activities included the Portsmouth Dragonboat Festival, have presented staff at the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit of St Mary’s Hospital with a rather generous cheque.

Generous Donation No Mystery For Neonatal UnitDouglas Stafford is an international mystery shopping company and each year, the staff there work hard to raise funds for charities across the UK. This year they decided to cross the Solent to deliver their cheque for £1,500 to staff at the hospital in Newport.

Pamela George, Sister of the Unit, said: “Thank you to all the staff at Douglas Stafford for raising this fantastic sum of money for us. We have a ‘wish list’ of items of equipment that we would like to purchase for our lovely new unit and this very generous donation will go a long way in helping us to do this.”

On behalf of Douglas Stafford, Director Diane Cook and Chairman Nigel Cook, presented the cheque to Sister Pamela George and staff on Tuesday 29th December. Commenting on the decision to donate to the Unit, Nigel Cook said: “I feel strongly about supporting children’s charities and what better one to support than Barely Born. The money goes to helping children that are already experiencing difficulties at the very beginning of their life.”

We understand that the donation will help towards purchasing respiration monitors, a camera and flat screen televisions for the Unit.
