Age UK Isle of Wight invites residents to donate Winter Fuel Payments to older people

Age UK Isle of Wight encourages everyone to make 2024 a year of doing something amazing and giving back to those in need. The local independent charity is calling on Island residents who haven’t yet needed to use their Winter Fuel Payment to consider donating it, or some of it, to help them support the most isolated and lonely older people on the Island.

The annual, tax-free payment is automatically received by individuals born before 25th September 1957, regardless of their financial circumstances. Instead of letting it go unused, why not make a difference by donating it to a local independent charity that can use it to provide essential services to those in need this winter?

Spread The Warmth campaign
As the Winter season is in full swing, Age UK Isle of Wight have launched their Spread The Warmth campaign to recognise the importance of ensuring that older people in our community have the necessary resources to stay warm and well.

By donating your winter fuel payment, individuals can make a significant difference in Age UK Isle of Wight’s ability to provide services to older residents on the Isle of Wight.

Use for essential support services to older people
The funds raised through these donations will be utilised to provide essential support services to older people on the Isle of Wight.

From ensuring access to warm clothing to facilitating social activities and companionship, Age UK Isle of Wight aims to help older individuals live well and stay connected during the winter months.

Bunce: You can make a real difference
Maria Bunce, Chief Officer at Age UK Isle of Wight, said,

“We understand that not everyone requires their winter fuel payment immediately, and we encourage those who are in the fortunate position to do so, to consider donating it to support our most vulnerable older residents.

“By spreading your warmth, you can make a real difference in the lives of those who may be feeling isolated and alone during this challenging time of year.”
