This week, eight-year-old Islander, Emily Brett-Hill, took the plunge and had her luscious long locks cut off for charity.
Emily plans to donate her hair to The Little Princess Trust, who will use it to make a wig for a child undergoing chemotherapy. As well as losing her locks, Emily also hoped to raise a little bit of money for the charity.
Well she has succeeded on both counts because on Tuesday afternoon, as well as having 12 inches of hair cut off to be donated to the Trust, the fundraising pot had reached a grand total of £520.
Nervous, but now over the moon
As you can imagine, Emily was very nervous having her lovely long hair removed, but according to her Dad, loves the look and is over the moon to have raised so much for charity.
Emily’s Dad, Lester, adds a special thanks anyone who has already supported Emily with a donation. He told News OnTheWight,
“She has made us all very proud and she wants to thank everyone for their generosity.”
Show your support
If you would like to show Emily your support you can via her Mum’s social media donation page.
There is also a donation pot down The Waterfront Bar and Restaurant, Totland Bay.
