Actors in Betrayal

Get your tickets now for Harold Pinter play

Tickets are still available for RedTIE Theatre’s latest production of Harold Pinter’s critically acclaimed play ‘Betrayal’.

The production starts tonight – 7th November – and continues Friday and Saturday night.

Betrayal
Inspired by Pinter’s seven year extramarital affair with Joan Bakewell, the plot interrogates different permutations of betrayal relating to a long standing affair between Emma and Jerry.

Robert and Emma are married. Jerry is Robert’s best friend and married to Judith. For five years Jerry and Emma carry on their affair without Robert’s knowledge, both betraying Robert and Judith. Emma, without telling Jerry she has done so, admits her infidelity to Robert thus betraying Jerry too, although she continues their affair.

The uniqueness of the play is that Pinter writes it in reverse chronology working from the end of the affair back to its inception, thus providing the actors with the added challenge of appearing younger as the play progresses.

The three cast members are Helen Reading, Paul Gwinnett and Steve Reading. The play is directed by John English.
