The annual Wayfarers Randonnee returns to the Isle of Wight on Sunday 4th May 2025.
Up to 2,700 cyclists are expected to ride around the Island on specially marked routes.
A long-standing Island tradition
Organised by CycleIsland Community Interest Company with the support of the Wayfarer Cycle Touring Club, the Randonnee has been a fixture on the Island’s calendar since 1985.
Participants can choose between a 100km or 55km clockwise route, both mainly following quiet roads and the established Round-the-Island cycle route.
No entry fee, but donations welcome
Entry is free, but organisers ask riders to donate if they can.
They rely on badge sales and contributions to cover event costs, with any surplus donated to Island charities.
Pre-registration required
All riders must pre-register before the event—there will be no registration on the day.
Checkpoints will be open from 9am to 6pm, though some may vary slightly depending on volunteer availability.
Route details
The 100km route loops the entire Island, using the signed clockwise cycle route marked by blue Island symbols on a white background. Riders can join the route at any of the checkpoints.
The 55km route begins at East Cowes and passes through Wootton and Bembridge, then joins National Cycle Network Route 23 to return to East Cowes via Newport.
Cyclists may start from any of the three checkpoints at East Cowes, Wootton or Bembridge.
