Fans of the Isle of Wight band, Wet Leg, whose rise to global fame in the last 12 months has been nothing short of meteoric, are calling on John Giddings to move the band’s Big Top slot at Isle of Wight Festival 2022 to the Main Stage.
Wet Leg are billed to play the Big Top on Sunday afternoon (they are second on the line-up after Toyah), but Robbie and Hannah of the Isle of Wight Guru Website are appealing to John’s better judgement and suggest the newly acquired ever-increasing fanbase of the band would fit better in the Main Stage field, rather than crammed into the Big Top.
Online petition
They’ve launched on online petition and are calling on Wet Leg fans to add their signatures and encourage John Giddings to do his magic with the schedules.

Who else is playing the Main Stage on Sunday?
Of course, if Wet Leg are moved to the Main Stage on Sunday, it means another band or artist has to be shifted elsewhere.
The lineup for Sunday has been promoted as:
- Del Amitri
- Mavis Staples
- Freya Ridings
- UB40 featuring Ali Campbell
- Tom Grennan
- Rudimental (Headlining)
Dear John Giddings and the rest of the brilliant team behind the Isle of Wight Festival.
We, the undersigned, strongly believe that Wet Leg should be promoted to the Main Stage at the Isle of Wight Festival 2022.
The band are currently buried away in the Big Top as the second act to perform on Sunday.
This is a problem for two reasons.
Firstly, half of the festival attendees will still be in their tents on Sunday lunchtime after a few too many whilst busting some moves to Kasabian and Pete Tong on Saturday night.
Secondly, those festival attendees who aren’t nursing a headache or sleeping through lunch will all attempt to cram into the Big Top to see the BBC’s second hottest band of 2022 (and the hottest band ever to have met at the Isle of Wight College).
Let us also remember that Wet Leg recently appeared on the Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon! The Tonight Show!
If this isn’t sorted out, there is a high risk that we will end up watching Wet Leg whilst stood next to a waffle stand and a fairground ride half a mile from the Big Top. How will we know what is a quirky new Wet Leg lyric and what is an announcement that the dodgems are about to start?
Please take our plea onboard, or things could literally go Pete Tong for the Isle of Wight Festival 2022. Oh no!
