Godshill Show 2006: What’s On Offer

Just a quick posting because it’s been a busy day and I haven’t much time, but here’s some more detail of what’s on offer at the 93rd Godshill Show tomorrow, organised by Christmas Cottage, which is held jointly with the Horticultural Society.

sumo wrestlerI wrote it all down whilst on the phone to the organiser, so might have some of the spellings wrong and sorry if you’ve been left off.

In no particular order …. Fancy Pants competition (think fancy dress but with fancy pants) being judged by IOW Radio and first prize of £100 voucher to spend at Christmas Cottage.

There will be terrier racing, steam car rides, horse and trap rides, sumo wrestling (and you don’t have to be 20 stone to take part – outfits supplied).

On the music front there will be the Shanklin Brass Band, Raw Samba, Gary Cramp, Dylan Jones, Contraband, HelterSkelter, Evolution, Bastila, Delta T, Dawn Walk and Well Oiled.

The Cask Inn Tavern will be hosting a beer tent and The Ventnor Brewery has made a new beer especially for the event … called This Ere Beer (not sure of spelling?) … look forward to trying some of that.

There are tons of food stalls (including plenty of veggie options); Ronaldos (spit roast pig), Moor Farm (bacon), The Garlic Farm, pasta, pizza and even a Russian food stall. I’m starting to salivate already.

Amongst all of that, there’s also loads of stalls with local crafts, jams etc and the obligatory Tug of War game.

Doves are being release at 5pm by Pitt Keithly (sorry if spelling wrong), Crazy the clown and Aaron the magician, Dreamstate Circus and circus workshops with Ryde Extreme Performers.

Les Nash the blacksmith will be doing his magic, Guido will be sculpting, the Austin club and VW Campers/Beetles club will be polishing their wing mirrors and chitty chitty bang bang will be wowing the kids.

There will be a tipi village with various therapies available if it all gets too much for you (including transcendental meditation)and to finish the day off, there’s a fire show in the evening.

All sounds like cracking good fun with gates opening at 10.30am opposite Godshill Organics, adult tickets £4, £2.50 for oap, kids free.
