CBS reporter and anchorman Ed Murrow, one of the legendary figures of US journalism, challenges Senator Joe McCarthy’s bullyboy tactics on air, jeopardising his own career and the network. Filming in lustrous black and white, Clooney intercuts archive footage with his own script, enabling him to cast the real McCarthy as a character in the film.
