On Sunday 15th August, the Official Opening will take place at Sandham Gardens, Sandown of two new facilities for Sandown.

These two new facilities show what working in Partnership can achieve.

The Fort Multi Play Courts and the Fort Multi Play Area have been built next to the skate park on what was redundant old tennis courts which cover the Fort of Henry VIII.

Fort Multi Play Courts
The Fort Multi Play Courts was funded by a grant of £50,000 from Groundwork Community Spaces which was obtained by Sandown Community Partnership working with Sandown Town Council.

This has provided a multi purpose court that football, basket ball, hockey and other games can be played on.

There are also two small courts which football skills can be practised on as well as younger children are able to play football on it. The other small court can be used for netball as well as other sports.

Join us for the openings
The opening of the Fort Multi Play Courts will take place at 10am and be performed by Councillor Ronnie Teasdale aided by the Deputy Mayor Councillor Connie Cowley, Cllr Stephenson whose brain child this was and Ian Schaff project Manager. A Football Tournament by Sandown and Lake Football Club will then take place.

Fort Play Park
The Fort Play Park was funded by a grant of £50,000 from Play England which was obtained by the Clerk for Sandown Town Council who worked in Partnership with the Isle of Wight Council. This has provided a variety of exciting play equipment for the older children.
