Green Impact business sustainability programme to continue on the Isle of Wight

Green Impact returns for another year, backed by Veolia and other local sponsors

The Green Impact programme will continue to run on the Isle of Wight thanks to the rallying support of local businesses, including headline sponsor Veolia.

The Green Impact Toolkit Relaunch goes live on 28th October 2026, featuring exciting updates including the integration of the Isle of Wight’s Local Nature Recovery Strategy (LNRS).

Relaunch event in Cowes
A relaunch networking event will then be held on 13th November 2026 between 3pm and 4.30pm at Building 41 in Cowes. The event will allow organisations to ask any questions they may have following the launch of the toolkit, and also offer networking opportunities and a chance to learn more about the Local Nature Recovery Strategy.

About the programme
Run annually on the Island since 2018, the Green Impact business programme supports organisations, community groups, colleges and more all over the country to create more sustainable working environments.

The programme is free to join and offers organisations a toolkit of more than 190 practical actions to reduce costs, improve efficiency and strengthen environmental performance, all of which support the Isle of Wight’s unique and cherished UNESCO Biosphere Reserve environment.

Participants earn points based on these completed actions, working their way towards the Bronze, Silver, Gold and Platinum awards handed out.

Thanks to support from local businesses sponsoring the scheme, including from headline sponsor Veolia, the scheme will now continue for another year on the Isle of Wight.

Thanks to sponsors
Amelie-Rose Owen, community wealth and special projects officer at the Isle of Wight Council and programme manager of Green Impact Isle of Wight, said,

“A huge thank you to our wonderful sponsors for enabling both the toolkit and programme relaunch to take place.

“Their support is helping organisations across the Island take practical action on sustainability, biodiversity and nature recovery, and we look forward to recognising their contribution at the event. We would not have been able to continue the programme without them.”

Last year’s results
In the 2025/26 year, 59 businesses registered for the business sustainability programme and 2042 actions were completed.

Qualifying businesses also had their entries audited by students from the Isle of Wight College, who undertook specialised sustainability training to complete the task.

Organisations were then celebrated at an awards ceremony in June, where trophies were given out based on each participant’s points tally.

Joe Robertson MP and Richard Quigley MP were both in attendance to celebrate businesses at the ceremony too.
