As part of the first Isle of Wight Biosphere Festival, New Carnival present ‘Greener Futures’ a free, pop-up, drop-in carnival costume making workshop taking place in Ryde on Saturday 29th June.
Younger members of our community are invited to come along and create a simple headdress and flag using sustainable materials and techniques. Explore using natural materials to make a carnival crown and try out Hapa Zome to create a beautiful flag.
IW Mardi Gras parade
Bring your creations along to Simeon Street Recreation Ground on Saturday 6th July at 2.30pm to join in with the IW Mardi Gras parade as part of the ‘Future of Carnival’ Section.
There will also be an informal opportunity for children, and their parents and carers to contribute their ideas about where the £20,000,000 levelling up funding for Ryde, being overseen by the Ryde Town Board, should be directed.
No age restrictions. Particularly aimed at children under 6 and under.
