Haydn’s CREATION – a magnificent and strikingly robust musical structure of majestic proportions, celebrating an uncomplicated joyousness for this curious world in which we all now find ourselves.
Perhaps not as well known as Handel’s Messiah, nevertheless it is full of marvellous musical gems, and bubbles over with an optimism that is nowadays all too uncommon. It also contains one of the most dramatic C-major chords in the canon – tellingly on the word ‘Light’ itself – this alone makes it worth turning up to sing!
This is another golden opportunity to polish up your vocals, to get acquainted (or reacquainted) with this remarkable work, without the burdensome commitment of weekly rehearsals – so put it in your diary and make sure you turn up and sing or simply come and listen at St Thomas’ Church, St Thomas’ Square in Newport.
