Quay Arts have welcomed back the Isle of Wight Schools Exhibition, in partnership with the Isle of Wight Council’s PEACH initiative.
This year’s theme is ‘Change’, and the free exhibition runs at the Clayden Gallery until Saturday 3rd May. The gallery is open daily, Monday to Sunday, from 9am to 5pm.
Celebrating health and creativity in education
The exhibition is part of the broader work of PEACH – the Partnership for Education, Attainment and Children’s Health. PEACH supports Island schools by helping them create health-promoting environments that improve wellbeing and support learning.
The initiative focuses on four key areas: personal, social, health and economic education (PSHE), physical activity, healthy eating and emotional wellbeing and mental health.
Connecting with the community
This year’s exhibition aims to take that work beyond school walls and into the wider community. It highlights how schools are engaging with the concept of ‘Change’ and celebrates the creativity of pupils from across the Island.
Sixteen schools, spanning both primary and secondary age groups, have contributed to the show. Pupils have created artwork as individuals and in groups, using 2D, 3D and digital formats.
The exhibition responds to the brief, “creatively demonstrate what ‘Connect’ means to you”, giving students the chance to reflect on and express ideas around connection and transformation.
A platform for young voices
By showcasing young people’s responses to the theme, the exhibition offers a glimpse into how Island pupils interpret their changing world.
It also provides a valuable platform for recognising the contribution of arts and health-focused education on the Isle of Wight.
Entry is free and open to all. See the Quay Arts website for more information.
