Help make a difference for UK wildlife in just one hour with Big Garden Birdwatch

The RSPB’s Big Garden Birdwatch long weekend is upon us and there’s still time to sign up and take part.

The event, which runs from Friday 27th to Sunday 29th January, encourages participants to spend one hour counting the birds in their garden or local area, in order to help monitor how birds are faring.

The event is free, fun, and a great way to keep an eye on local wildlife.

Citizen science
Whether you’re in a city or the countryside, whatever birds you see, it all counts.

By signing up, you can also download a free guide for advice and ID tips, and share your stories and photos on social media using #BigGardenBirdWatch.

Join 700,000 others
Last year, almost 700,000 people took part in Big Garden Birdwatch, all coming together to look out for birds.

However, the event is more important than ever this year as the UK has lost 38 million birds from its skies in the last 50 years.

As a conservation charity, the RSPB behind the event, relies on the support of participants to help save nature and look after places where wildlife can thrive.

How to take part
Taking part is easy as 1, 2, 3: watch the birds around you for one hour, count how many of each species of bird lands on your patch, and then go online and tell the event organisers what you saw.

So why not join in this weekend and help make a difference for UK birdlife?
